H-FABP is a small cytoplasmic protein found in the heart and skeletal muscles. Due to its abundance in heart muscle, it is a highly sensitive marker for myocardial injury. As an early marker, released within 3-6 hours after the onset of pain H-FABP provides essential early diagnostic information.
Time is critical when assessing myocardial damage, therefore rapid detection of H-FAPB provides many advantages for both the patient and clinician.
