Intended Use
For the quantitative in vitro determination of Stanozolol in urine samples. For manual use only.
Background information
Stanozolol has been used in the past to treat both humans and animals for a number of conditions, in veterinary medicine it has been used to improve muscle growth and bone density.
As Stanozolol is an anabolic steroid it mimics the effect of testosterone and dihydrotestosterone and increases the build up of cellular tissue in the muscles. The use of Stanozolol has been abused in horse/dog racing as well as meat productions were it is used to improve the quality and efficiency of meat.
Principle
A microtitre plate is supplied precoated, with a stanozolol antibody. Stanozolol (antigen), if present in a standard or sample competes with horseradish peroxidase labelled stanozolol (enzyme labelled antigen) for a limited number of antibody sites on the microtitre plate. After an incubation period at room temperature to allow a competition reaction to take place, the microtitre plate is then washed to remove excess reagents.
The enzyme substrate and chromogen are added and after an incubation period to allow maximum colour development, the colour reaction is stopped by the addition of Stop Solution. This produces a colour change from blue to yellow, and the absorbances are read at 450 nm.
A standard curve is then constructed to determine the stanozolol concentration in the sample.
